The Preparedness Library Is Open
- Details
I spent the last couple of days working on the Preparedness Library. My eyes are officially bugging out of my skull lol. Once I can get them popped back in place I will start on structuring and configuring the Forum. We have plenty of time before we can make things happen so I intend to make this website as useful and beneficial as possible in the meantime. To check out the library just click the link below or use the Preparedness menu above to access it. Read and or Download to your heart's content. I will add things as I can.
The Pen Is Mightier Than The Sword
- Details
The pen is absolutely mightier than the sword. I have been a little quiet lately. As I am sure you know if you are visiting this page, Hope, the fur child of Jon Henry has passed on. The two hardest things for me to process are forgiveness and loss/death. Especially when it is a senseless death. It always takes me back to many years ago when a friend of mine lost his daughter to SIDS. He was staying the night where I lived and I will never forget the moment of being woke up and running into the living room. 911 had already been called but I could not stand there and do nothing. I picked the child up and laid her on the floor to initiate CPR. I knew the moment I picked her up that there was no chance of that but I could not stand there and do nothing. After the ambulance arrived I took their other child outside for a walk just to get her away from the situation. Honestly, I think I needed out of there as well. I can remember being so angry but having nothing or no one to be angry with. It's an empty, dark, and helpless feeling. One that I have trouble shaking off.
I am here. I have been spending a lot of time the last 2 days working on the Preparedness sections of the page.
If you would like to read more about Hopes story there is a detailed article written by Sarah Boyles, Freelance Journalist ll that you can read here. Rest in peace, Hope. You were such a good girl.
Highland, You Are Incredible!
- Details
I just had to say something. I haven't had my nose over in The Highland Illinois Discussion Group because I have been over here on the website adding to the Preparedness section and updating some pages. I just saw your numerous comments on Jon's posts about Hope. Thank you for standing up for him! Thank you for calling for justice and fairness. Society reaches a level of disintegration when all fairness is lost and justice is only available to the "protected class". This is how we fix it, folks. Thank you.
Prayers For Hope & Jon • Why Is Nothing Being Done?
- Details
[UPDATE #2]
Just got another update from Jon. It is as follows:
"Went to visit, she is still on hard meds.. lots of cutting, stitches and three drainage tubes. Surgeon said it can still go either way. "
Keep those prayers coming please!
[UPDATE #1]
It's really sad when they play the pick-and-choose game. The most important thing is that Hope is in recovery and that some truly incredible people stepped up to help Hope and Jon out. Thank you from the bottom of my heart! ❤️
[Original Article]
So up front, I want to say that I am not good at writing articles. My communication skills in general are pretty bad and that is certainly intensified when using text as the form of communication being used.
Recently a dog named Hope was attacked. The dog is the fur child of Jon Henry. As you can see in the images there was certainly damage done. This morning Hope is to undergo surgery to deal with some of the injuries. Please keep both Hope and Jon in your prayers.
What I want to address is the lack of action being taken in this matter. I have been a Highland resident for 46 of my 51 years and I myself have experienced the same issue. I was harassed for a year and a half because I reported a hit-and-run accident where the driver appeared to be drunk (considering he had to hold onto the vehicle to prevent himself from falling as he walked to the door). He backed into someone's vehicle damaging it and then took off. For whatever reason "they could not find the driver". But I couldn't even mow my grass or barbeque outside without issue. I can even remember getting a visit because my trash cans could be seen from the street. Oh by the way. The house that the truck was leaving from was a member of the Chamber of Commerce. Starting to make sense yet?
Clearly, there is an issue here. I will let you make the assumptions.
Hope is being treated at the Highland Animal Hospital. I am sure she is in wonderful and capable hands. Please pray for everyone involved.
